a.)  Basketball (Frank Victor):  Chairman Victor thanked the committee members for their assistance in putting together a very successful district championship playoffs in both girls and boys basketball.  We have a number of teams still alive in the state playoffs as the teams move into this weekend’s state quarterfinals:  Boys A (Bishop O’Reilly), Boys AA (Bishop Hoban), Girls AAA (North Pocono, Nanticoke and Scranton Prep).  Congratulations and good luck!

b.)  Swimming (Jim Higgins):  Chairman Higgins expressed his satisfaction with the district playoffs.  He explained that everything went very well.  Also, there have been snags with the software program utilized at the state office for the seeding and placement of the state meet.  He thanked the district schools for their patience and perseverance in working through those problems.

c.)  Wrestling (Dan Donovan):  Chairman Majikes explained that two issues have been raised at the regional meets:  (1) schools that arrive late for the weigh-ins came very close to jeopardizing their participation in the regionals.  Please be mindful of the weigh-in scheduled times and plan your arrival time accordingly in the future; (2) there was a concern at the junior high meet regarding an injury that the committee is researching.

d.)  Track and Field (Jim Sabatini):  In Jim’s absence, Bill King stated that everything is a go with Scranton Memorial Stadium for the upcoming district meets in the spring.

e.)  Soccer (Ray Lowery):  Chairman Lowery explained that preliminary meetings have been held in order to set up the girls’ soccer tournament for the spring.  A final format will be presented in April.

f.)  Baseball/Softball (Frank Majikes/Bob Okrasinski):  A meeting of the Baseball/Softball committees was held and a decision was made that this year’s tournaments in all classifications will be open tournaments.  All games, with the exception of the finals, will be played on the home field of the higher seeded team.  After a discussion, a motion was made by Frank Victor, seconded by Mike Ognosky, that the home team will be responsible for the paying of all umpires through the semifinal rounds of the tournaments.  All Ayes

The committee also gave the approval to schedule the baseball finals at Lackawanna County Stadium on June 1st and 2nd.  The stadium will be open and available on those dates.  If there should be inclement weather that forces the finals off of June 1st and 2nd the finals will be moved from the stadium and to alternative sites established by the baseball committee.
